Atlantic 10 Release

Bronx, N.Y. – For the second straight year, Fordham senior Nevena Kolarevic has been named the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Performer of the Year while freshman Valerija Kargina was also recognized as the conference Rookie of the Year. Both were also named First Team All-Conference along with sophomore Paola Dalmonico, while junior Julianne Nguyen was named to the Second Team.

Kolarevic, a native of Belgrade, Serbia, just concluded one of the most successful careers for a Fordham women's tennis student-athlete. Last fall she and Nguyen became the first Fordham women's tennis players, and only the third Atlantic 10 athletes, to compete in the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Individual Championships. The doubles pair qualified for the NCAAs by winning the 2025 ITA Northeast Regional doubles title.

Kolarevic, just the fourth A-10 player to win back-to-back Performer of the Year accolades, also qualified in singles and doubles for the 2025 ITA All-American Championships. This prestigious tournament features the nation's top NCAA Division I players and is a qualifying event for the NCAA Championships. Again, no Fordham tennis player has ever qualified for the ITA All-American Championships. She became the first player from Fordham to win an ITA All-American match, defeating Maria Andrienko from the University of Alabama, 6-4, 6-2.

Kolarevic dominated her competition at the 2026 A-10 Women's Tennis Championship, helping Fordham reach the title match. She picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory on Court 1 against Davidson in the semifinals, before winning 6-2, 6-2 at the same position during the championship final against VCU. Kolarevic also captured the Atlantic 10 individual Masters tournament title during the fall.

Last year, Kolarevic finished the season ranked 7th in singles and 6th in doubles among all Division I singles players in the Northeast region. Both rankings were the highest ever in Fordham history.

Kolarevic, the 2026 Hobbs Family Award winner as the Female Athlete of the Year at Fordham, went undefeated in A-10 play since arriving at Fordham University. The Economics major was also name to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team.

Kargina, a three-time Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, was a consistent presence at the No. 2 and No. 3 singles positions, going undefeated against A-10 opponents in the regular season. The Riga, Latvia native earned singles victories over George Washington's Madison Lee, Davidson's Ellie Hammond, and Rhode Island's Sophie Herrman. Kargina also reached the semifinals of the A-10 Masters.

Kargina went 22-13 on the year in singles action, 5-2, at second singles, tying for second on the team in singles wins. She also was 22-9 in doubles play, 12-6 at second doubles, the fourth most doubles victories on the squad.

Dalmonico stepped up when Kolarevic was sidelined with injuries to play at first singles, going 6-1 at the top position. Overall the Curitiba, Brazil native was 22-11 overall in singles play, 12-4 in tournament action. She was tied for the second most singles wins on the team.

In doubles play, Dalmonico was 23-10, the second most wins for a Ram, 12-5 at third doubles.
