Orlando, Fla. – It was the type of match you would expect from the top two seeded teams at the 2026 Atlantic 10 Championship. One that came down to the final match. Unfortunately for the top-seeded Fordham women's tennis team that match was won by second-seeded VCU as Fordham fell to VCU, 4-3, in the A-10 Championship final at the USTA National Campus.
 
VCU opened the match taking the doubles point, winning the two completed doubles matches.
 
Nevena Kolarevic made it a 1-1 match with a straight set win over Sofia Jane Thorne, 6-2, 6-2, before Julianne Nguyen evened the match again at two with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Sara Alba at sixth singles.
 
Fordham took a 3-2 lead when Lily Chitambar defeated Elicia Kim, 6-3, 6-2, at fifth singles but VCU tied it at three with a win at the third position.
 
The match came down to fourth singles in a match that was halted in the third set by a thunderstorm. Catalina Padilla took the first set from Andrea Magallanes, 6-3, but dropped the second, 6-4. When play resumed, Magallanes took the third set, 6-2, to clinch the match for VCU.
