Middletown, Conn. – (February 26, 2023) – The Fordham squash team finished their stay at the CSA Team Championship on Sunday morning with a barnburner match against Denison in the seventh place match of the Conroy Cup.
 
The team result came all the way down to the final match as Denison won the final match for the 5-4 victory.
 
Leading 1-0 courtesy of a default win at the ninth slot, Fordham bumped the team lead to 3-1 with victories by 
Caleb Schumacher and 
Robert Cruikshank.  Schumacher defeated James Maher in three games at the eighth slot 11-4, 11-4, 11-5, while Cruikshank earned a four-game win over Joao Barbosa Gomes at the sixth slot, 11-5, 11-2, 9-11, and 11-6.
 
Nicholas Choo got the Rams their fourth team point, as he defeated Suryansh Agrawal in three games, 11-5, 12-10, and 11-4.
 
Fordham tried to get the clinching point at the fourth slot with 
Jack Stanley as he rallied from two games down to force a fifth game.  However, It was Lucas Piller that outlasted Stanley for the victory, 11-9, 11-6, 10-12, 11-13, and 11-5.
 
Denison then picked up three-game wins at the first and second slots to knot things up at four, leaving the match in the hands of the third slot match between Fordham's 
Bennett Van Liew and Denison's Ibrahim Bekhiet.  Unfortunately for the Rams, Bekhiet took it in three games, 11-5, 11-2, and 11-8.
 
Fordham ends the season with a 20-11 record, marking the Rams' fourth 20-win season in the last five campaigns.
