Corey Burns, former assistant football coach at Georgetown University, has been named an assistant coach at Fordham University it was announced by head coach
Joe Conlin. Burns will be in charge of the Rams' defensive line in 2023.

Burns arrives at Fordham after serving as the defensive line coach at Georgetown University in 2022. Under his tutelage, the Hoyas defensive line more than doubled its sack total from 2021 to 2022. Burns mentored All-Patriot League selection Ibrahim Kamara and had two freshman, Mateen Ibirogba (7.5) and Ibri Harrell (6) as team leaders in sacks.
Prior to his stint at Georgetown, Burns served as a graduate assistant coach at Temple University and Colorado State, assisting in defensive linemen development.Â
With Colorado State, Burns helped the defensive line lead the FBS in team tackles for loss with 10.5, rank fourth with 4.0 team sacks and 12th in rushing defense, allowing 108.5 yards per game.Â
The Massachusetts native also spent a season as the special teams coordinator and defensive line coach with his alma mater, Tufts University, where he started all four years at defensive end and recorded 10.5 tackles for loss.
Burns graduated from Tufts in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in community health and a minor in economics before returning for his master's in healthcare management & policy in 2017.
