James Conway was named the Patriot League Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week, presented by Credit Union 1, it was announced today. It is the second weekly award of the year for the Omaha, Nebraska, native.

In a loss to Dartmouth on Saturday, Conway recorded a game-high 17 tackles, including 1.5 for loss, and he also forced a fumble and had a pass break up. It was his sixth double digit tackle game of the season

Conway's 17 tackles bring his career total to 539. He is just one of five FCS players to have that many since the 2000 season. Conway is also closing in on the NCAA FCS career tackles record of 550, set by Illinois State's Boomer Grigsby from 2001-04. The NCAA Division I record is 577 set by Troy's Carlton Martial from 2018-22.

On the year, Conway has 103 total tackles, 44 solo, including 4.5 for loss and two sacks. He leads all of the NCAA divisions in tackles/game with 14.7.
