Bronx, N.Y. – (February 11, 2023) – The Fordham squash team hits the end of the regular season this weekend, which began with a split of matches at the Lombardi Squash Courts on Saturday afternoon.
The day began with an 8-1 loss to Boston University.
Fordham's lone point came from
Bennett Van Liew, who won his second slot match over Milan Tahliani in four games, 8-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-9.
The Rams almost pulled out two other matches, as
Henry Frawley and
Caleb Schumacher each fell in five games. Frawley lost his #1 match to Pablo Rodriguez, 11-5, 8-11, 11-8, 8-11, 12-10, while Schumacher dropped his sixth slot match to Eddie Nakamura, 12-10, 7-11, 8-11, 11-3, 11-7.
In match two, Fordham rebounded with a 6-3 win over Drexel Club.
The Rams posted wins at the first through six positions for the team victory. Van Liew earned his second win of the day, defeating Vivek Khimani in four games (11-1, 12-14, 11-3, 11-4).
Schumacher (6
th),
Sofia Arseniev (3
rd),
Robert Cruikshank (4
th), and
Nicholas Choo (5
th) each won their respective matches in three games, while Frawley took home his win in four games.
The Rams' regular season wraps up on Sunday, February 12
th, as they host Lehigh at 9:00 AM and Johns Hopkins at 10:30 AM.
