Bronx, N.Y. – (December 3, 2023) – The Fordham squash team kept rolling along on Sunday at the Lombardi Squash Courts, extending their win streak to eight games with victories over Connecticut and Bard. The Rams are now 11-4 on the season.
The Rams opened Sunday with a 6-3 win over UConn.
Leading 1-0 with a default win at the ninth slot, Fordham won five of the remaining eight matches for the team win.
Peter Vorbach got the Rams started with a three-game win at third position over Sam Mason, 11-6, 11-6, and 11-8, while
Robert Cruikshank defeated Marco Marci at fourth position in three games, 11-2, 11-4, and 11-3.
At the fifth slot,
Gray Kearns knocked off Connor Flaherty in three games, 11-2, 11-5, and 11-5, followed by
Sofia Arseniev taking down James Ravalese at sixth position, 11-0, 11-1, and 11-8.
Nicholas Choo recorded the Rams' last win of the day at eighth position over Phoebe Sanchez, 11-3, 11-8, and 11-7.
In match two of the day, Fordham quickly dispensed Bard by an 8-1 count.
The Rams earned wins from the second slot all the way to ninth position, beginning with
Jack Stanley defeating Luca Heidelberg in three games, 11-0, 11-0, and 11-1, while both Choo and
Edwin Hess had matching, 11-0, 11-0, 11-0, wins at eighth and ninth position respectively over Kasiem Washington and Abdullah Mehrzad.
Vorbach (11-1, 11-0, 11-1), Cruikshank (11-0, 11-4, 11-2), Kearns (11-0, 11-2, 11-2), and Arseniev (11-0, 11-3, 11-1) all earned their second wins of the day from the third through sixth positions with
Crispin McCarthy (11-1, 11-1, 11-3) capping the day with a win at seventh position.
The Rams are now off for break until January 18
th, when the team hosts Brown.
