Bronx, N.Y. – (November 19, 2023) – An early start did not bother the Fordham squash team on Sunday morning, as the Rams completed a 3-0 weekend with wins over Cornell Club and George Washington.
The pair of wins puts Fordham's record at 6-4 on the year.
Fordham opened the day with a 9-0 win over Cornell Club, led by
Nicholas Gilman earning a four-game win over Nicholas Carson at first position, 11-9, 11-9, 8-11, and 11-9.
The remaining wins for the Rams began with
Henry Frawley topping Caleb Woo, 11-8, 11-4, and 11-3, at second position, while
Peter Vorbach defeated Nikhil Dhakad at third position, 11-7, 11-5, and 12-10.
Jack Stanley won at the fourth slot over Hadi Sumaida, 11-5, 11-6, and 11-6, followed by victories for
Robert Cruikshank (5
th – 11-5, 11-4, 11-8),
Gray Kearns (6
th – 9-11, 11-8, 11-5, 11-4),
Crispin McCarthy (7
th – 11-7, 11-9, 11-7),
Nicholas Choo (8
th – 11-5, 11-4, 11-3), and
Caleb Schumacher (9
th – default).
In match two, the Rams defeated a short-handed George Washington squad, 8-1, as the Revolutionaries had only five players.
Of the matches that were played, Frawley, Vorbach, Stanley, and Cruikshank each recorded their second win of the day.
Frawley topped Henry Ohrstrom at second position, 13-11, 11-9, 9-11, and 11-1 with Vorbach taking down Leo-Paul Leger at the third slot, 12-10, 11-8, and 11-1. Stanley then defeated Yasmine Sana at fourth position, 11-3, 11-2, and 11-1, while Cruikshank closed out the win with a three-game win at fifth position over Conor Franz (11-5, 11-5, and 11-3).
The Rams are now off for Thanksgiving break and return to the courts on December 2
nd, where they host NYU, Yale Club, and Colgate in the Bronx.
