Newark, N.J. – (October 7, 2023) – Through rain and muddy conditions, the Fordham cross country team made its way to Branch Brook Park in Newark, New Jersey for the 2023 Metropolitan Cross Country Championship.
In the women's championship, Fordham finished fourth in the team standings with 119 points, behind team champion St. John's (68), Manhattan (77), and Seton Hall (99).
Marin Bogulski was Fordham's top performer, placing 16th overall in a time of 18:36.03, followed by
Clodagh McGroary in 23rd (19:06.91) and
Maddy Kopec in 24th (19:07.57).
Sarah Zahaykevich (27th – 19:11.70) and
Meredith Gotzman (30th – 19:18.97) rounded out the scoring group for Fordham.
Other Rams running in the championship included
Quincy Biddle (34th – 19:27.18),
Cate Roche (36th – 19:29.37),
Madeleine Ryan (43rd – 19:42.12),
Brenna Sears (46th - 19:47.78),
Megan McCann (47th – 19:50.15),
Alexandra Thomas (51st – 19:56.20),
Mary Kathryn Underwood (54th – 20:10.75),
Grace Kenny (61st - 20:29.16), and Scarlett Anderson (72nd - 22:38.33).
For the men, only four Fordham runners finished the race, leaving the Rams without a team score.
Darren Croke was the first Ram across the line in 26:23.33, good for 26
th place, while
John Corrigan was 33
rd overall in 26:38.42.
Nicolas Grabarz was next up in 37
th place in 26:43.20 with
Jake Frayler in 61
st in 28:30.07.
Tadael Mihret did begin the race as the Rams' fifth runner but was unable to finish.
The Rams will next be in action on Friday, October 13
th as they take part in the ECAC/IC4A Championship, held at Van Cortlandt Park.
