Cross Country Runs at Metropolitan Championship

Newark, N.J. – (October 11, 2025) – The championship portion of the Fordham cross country schedule started on Saturday morning with the Metropolitan Cross Country Championship, held at Branch Brook Park in Newark, N.J.
 
MEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP

• Seton Hall earned its third Metropolitan Championship and first since 1992 with a team score of 52 points.
• Hofstra's Abraham Longosiwa repeated as the Metropolitan Championship with a winning time of 22:45.
• Fordham finished sixth out of nine teams with a team score of 160 points.
• Anan Bauman was the Rams' top finisher over the 8K course in 17^th place in a time of 25:37, followed by Matthew McCabe in 22^nd at 25:46.
• Matthew McDevitt was the next Ram across in 26:11, good for 39^th, with Eric Schleif in 41^st (26:16) and Will Spierdowis in 55^th (27:22).

 
WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP

• Columbia took home its 18^th Metropolitan Championship with a team score of 44 points, the first title for the Lions since 2013.
• Hofstra's Isabella Spagnoli became the second member of the Pride to take the individual title with a winning time of 17:15.
• Fordham placed fifth out of nine teams with a score of 134 points.
• Meredith Gotzman led the way for the Rams in 15^th place with a 5K time of 18:33.
• Alexis Smith also finished in the top 20 in 19^th place at 18:40, while Quincy Biddle was 22^nd overall in 18:49.
• Ciara McGroary (47^th – 19:46), Madison Collins (50^th – 19:53), and Marisa House (51^st – 20:00) rounded out the field for the Rams.

• The Rams are next in action on Friday, October 17^th, at the ECAC/IC4A Championship, which will take place at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
