Cross Country Takes Part in ECAC/IC4A Championship

Fordham Women Finish Ninth, while Men Take 12th

Bronx, N.Y. – (October 18, 2024) – The Fordham cross country teams played host to the annual ECAC/IC4A Championships on Friday at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
 
The ECAC Championship was up first for the women, as Yale captured the team championship with 53 points, followed by Bucknell (103), and Massachusetts (109).  Fordham ended up ninth at 268 points.
 
Individually, Fairfield's Hannah Snayd was the gold medalist with a winning time of 20:41.9 over the 6K course.  She was about nine seconds ahead of second place finisher, Claire Archer of Yale (20:50.7).
 
For Fordham, the Rams had two runners in the top 20, beginning with Katarina Birimac placing seventh overall in 21:15.8, while Sarah Zahaykevich finished 18th in 21:37.5.  Kate Meeks was the next Ram across the line in 57th at 22:27.3, followed by Lauren Raimy in 112th (23:23.0), Grace Kenny in 126th (23:31.3), Sophia Viscon in 136th (23:39.5), and Sophia Oliva in 140th (23:45.8).
 
Other competitors for Fordham on Friday were Megan McCann (144th – 23:49.5), Brenna Sears (155th – 23:56.7), Alexis Smith (158th – 23:58.2), Marisa House (215th – 25:07.2), and Ciara McGroary (220th – 25:21.2).
 
The men then hit the 8K course for the IC4A Championship, where George Mason won the team title with 61 points, followed by Harvard (73) and Bucknell (117).  Fordham ended up 12th with 339 points.
 
Individually, George Mason's Wesley Bond paced the course in 24:29.0 for first place with Lehigh's Kevin Harvey in second at 24:36.5.
 
For the Rams, Sean Reidy was the top performer in 49th place at 25:33.4, while Nathan Bezuneh was 53rd (25:36.5) with Bradford Duchesne in 57th (25:39.0).  Darren Croke was the next Fordham runner in at 26:00.4, good for 88th, with Tadael Mihret in 117th (26:16.4), Matthew Febles in 153rd (26:38.4), and Lucas Rohde in 176th (26:56.4).
 
Other Ram runners on Friday included Jake Frayler (194th – 27:17.2), Matthew McDevitt (205th – 27:35.9), John Corrigan (219th – 27:42.9), and Anan Bauman (242nd – 28:31.0).
 
The Rams conclude the championship portion of their schedule on Saturday, November 2nd, as they head to the Atlantic 10 Championship, hosted at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Virginia.
