Bronx, N.Y. – (October 27, 2023) – The Fordham squash team begins its 2023-24 season this weekend with a pair of matches in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., as the Rams take on Vassar and St. Lawrence. The Vassar match is set for 9:30 AM followed by the match with St. Lawrence.
The Rams are coming off a 20-11 season, marking the fourth 20-win season in the last five campaigns for the team.
Fordham returns nine players from last year's squad, led by the senior duo of
Henry Frawley and
Nicholas Choo. Frawley posted a 14-13 record, playing at the first through third positions, while Choo was 17-9 overall, playing all the way from fourth to ninth position. Also back for Fordham is last year's team MVP
Robert Cruikshank, who was the lone Ram to reach 20 wins (20-7 record), as is
Sofia Arseniev (15-11 record) and
Bennett Van Liew (14-9 record).
As for opponents, Fordham won the season series against Vassar last year, winning both meetings with the last coming in the opening round of the 2023 CSA Team Championship. The Rams' second match on Saturday will see the first meeting between Fordham and St. Lawrence since the 2002 CSA Team Championship, a 7-2 Fordham win.
