Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham women's tennis squad was busy last weekend, hosting the Fordham Fall Classic while three members were also competing in the ITA Super Regionals at Army West Point.
 
In the ITA Super Regionals quarterfinals, Raffaela Alhach fell to Boston College's Michelle Kleynerman, the third seed, in three sets, dropping the first 62, before coming back to win the second 6-3. But Kleynerman was able to pull out the third set, 6-2.
 
In doubles action, the team of Xiaowei Hu & Anlin Xie also took their opponent to a third set, winning the first 7-5 and dropping the second 6-4 before falling 10-8 in the tiebreaker to Dartmouth's Brooke Hess & Alexandra Dewire.
 
"This was a challenging weekend for Fordham women's tennis," said head coach Michael Sowter. "We played two very tough schools but I think we're a much better team than we showed so we have to play better and I need to coach better. We will learn from this, get back to work, and I'm confident we will have a strong finish to the fall."
