Stanford, Calif. – (September 25, 2022) – The 16
th-ranked Fordham water polo team wrapped up play at the MPSF Invitational on Sunday, as the Rams defeated Pomona Pitzer, 18-11, though it took a bit longer than expected.
The start of the game was delayed by two hours due to a power outage on Stanford's campus.
Once the game started, the Rams (9-6) certainly supplied the power, scoring 11 of the first 12 goals in the match and did not relinquish that lead.
For Fordham,
Christos Loupakis and
Balazs Berenyi each netted a hat trick, while
Luca Silvestri,
Jason Hiremath,
George Papanikolaou,
Lucas Nieto Jasny, and
Nacho Ariste each had two.
Nir Gross and
Jacopo Parrella rounded out the scoring with one goal apiece.
In net,
Thomas Lercari made eight saves in just over three quarters of work, while
Riccardo Di Giuseppe had one save in the remainder of the fourth quarter.
Fordham will next be in action on Thursday, September 29
th, as they host Wagner at the Messmore Aquatic Center for their home opening contest. The Rams will also unveil their MAWPC Championship banner prior to the match.
