League Release
Newport News, Va. – For the fifth time in program history, Fordham volleyball has seen a debutant take home the season's first Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week award. On Monday, that Ram was
Audrey Brown after a dazzling opening weekend, helping the Rams to an 1-1 record.
Â
"Audrey had been putting in work since the start, but what's most impressive is how much of a competitor she is." Head coach
Ian Choi said, "That's a characteristic that's difficult to measure and develop once you hit college. I'm happy for her, well-earned."
Â
The Birmingham, Mich. native started both matches over the weekend, a win over Quinnipiac and a tight loss to host Stony Brook, and combined for 40 kills, hitting .395, with 14 digs and nine blocks across 10 sets. For the weekend, she averaged an even 4.0 kills, 1.40 digs, and 0.9 blocks per set.
Â
In her collegiate debut, Brown matched junior
Whitley Moody with 22 kills, hitting an uber-efficient .556 that was not far off the program five-set record, with four digs and a block. Against the Seawolves, she added 18 more kills, hitting .267, but finished just two blocks shy of a triple-double, notching 10 digs for her first double-double and leading the team at the net with eight block assists.
Â
Brown and the Rams are back in action on Wednesday afternoon at St. Francis Brooklyn, beginning at 4 p.m.
