Louisville, Ky. – Nine Fordham softball student-athletes have earned a spot on the Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete list for the 2021-22 academic year –
Kelly Bright,
Rachel Hubertus,
Julia Martine,
Mallory McClellan,
Mary Grace O'Neill,
Brianna Pinto,
Gigi Speer,
Sarah Taffet, and
Sydney Wells. This is the third-most selections in program history.
A total of 7,527 collegiate student-athletes who had a 3.5 GPA or higher across all levels were named to the list. Division I accounted for 2,155 players.
Last year's squad had 13 Rams make the list and there were also nine in 2019 around the lost 2020 campaign. For Bright and Pinto, it's a fourth straight honor. For Martine and Speer, it makes three, for Hubertus and Taffet, it's two in a row, and a first accolade for the three freshmen.
That now brings the total number of Rams to earn All-America Scholar-Athlete to 31 in three years (around the 2020 year) under head coach
Melissa Inouye. That is more than the five years prior (26) since the NFCA created the award in 2013-14.
