NY Times Obituary

Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham University mourns the passing of Athletic Hall of Famer Donald K. Ross, FCRH '65, who died on May 14 in Salisbury, Conn. He was 78.

In 1964 Ross, who was running for student body president, along with his running mate John Connolly, FCRH '65, ran on the Spirit Party line with the return of football as its main goal. Ross and Connolly won the election and used money raised from on-campus concerts to help fund the return of football.

Working with Bill Burke, FCRH '65, LAW '68, who served as the sports information director, and David Langdon, FCRH '65, the rugby team captain who was enlisted to serve as the squad's volunteer head coach, Ross started the Fordham club football program in 1964. It's that spark that led to the football program Fordham enjoys today.

Ross, Burke, and Langdon, were inducted into the Fordham Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017.
