Bronx, N.Y. – (May 20, 2022) - The 2021-22 Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Among the Men's At-Large Team is Fordham water polo's
Hans Zdolsek (Linkoping, Sweden).
The Men's At-Large Team is selected from candidates from the following men's sports: water polo, ice hockey, gymnastics, swimming & diving, tennis, golf, skiing, rifle, fencing, lacrosse, volleyball, and wrestling.
Studying Global Finance in Fordham's Gabelli Graduate School of Business with a 3.85 GPA, Zdolsek led the Rams to the 2021 MAWPC Championship and an automatic berth into the NCAA Championship, both team firsts for Fordham water polo. He earned ACWPC Honorable Mention All-American honors and was named MAWPC East Most Valuable Player becoming the first Ram to ever win that award.
A team captain and a member of the ACWPC and MAWPC All-Academic Teams, Zdolsek was also a First Team All-MAWPC East Selection, finishing with 47 goals, 38 assists 43 steals, and 19 blocks. He was then named the Most Outstanding Player at the MAWPC Championship and to the All-Championship Team.
In February, Zdolsek added another piece of hardware to the trophy case when he was named the 2021 Swedish Men's Water Polo Player of the Year, presented by the Swedish Swim Federation, Svensk Simidrott. Most recently in May, he was the recipient of the Vincent T. Lombardi Award, as Fordham's Male Student-Athlete of the Year.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-June.
