Lewisburg, Pa. – (September 21, 2025) – The fifth-ranked Fordham water polo team completed a 3-0 weekend in MAWPC action on Sunday morning, defeating Bucknell and Mt. St. Mary's as part of the Bison Invitational.
Fordham is now 8-1 on the season, 3-0 in the MAWPC.
GAME 1 at Bucknell – W, 24-13
- The first quarter was an explosive one with Fordham leading, 8-5, after the first period with Luca Silvestri scoring twice for the Rams.
- Fordham extended the lead in the second, pulling ahead, 13-7, as Andras Toth netted his first two goals of the game.
- The Rams put the hammer down in the third with another eight-goal quarter, pushing the lead to 11 at 21-10.
- Fordham's sophomore tandem of Toth and Luca Provenziani once again led the offense. Provenziani netted four goals, eight assists, and four steals, while Toth had three goals, seven assists, five steals, and two blocks.
- Silvestri, Barnabas Eppel, Soren Jessen, and Diego Tresa also had hat tricks in the match.
- Matthew Bonello DuPuis notched seven saves and two steals in goal.
GAME 2 vs. Mt. St. Mary's – W, 19-5
- The match was all Rams from the get-go, as Fordham scored the first nine goals of the game before Mt. St. Mary's scored their first goal with 5:29 left in the second quarter.
- Fordham led 12-2 at the half and scored three times in the third and four times in the fourth for the 19-5 final.
- Toth notched a game-high seven goals to go with two steals, while Tresa had three goals and two steals.
- Reid Thorson, Silvestri, and Provenziani also had two goals apiece.
- Kristof Magony had seven saves in net over three and a half quarters, while Panayiotis Giannas had three saves over the final four minutes.
GAME NOTES
- Fordham has now won 47 consecutive regular season MAWPC matches.
- Including the MAWPC Championship, the Rams have 58 straight wins over teams from the MAWPC.
- Fordham has now defeated Bucknell ten consecutive times and improved to 11-0 all-time against Mt. St. Mary's.
