#5 Water Polo Begins Home Schedule on Saturday

Rams Host #13 Princeton & Wagner This Weekend

Bronx, N.Y. – (September 26, 2025) – Following nine matches away from the Bronx, the fifth-ranked Fordham water polo team will finally have it first two home matches this Saturday, as the Rams welcome #13 Princeton and MAWPC opponent Wagner to the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Rams completed a 3-0 weekend in MAWPC action on Sunday, defeating Bucknell, 24-13, and Mt. St. Mary's, 19-5.
  • Against Bucknell, Fordham's sophomore tandem of Andras Toth and Luca Provenziani led the offense as Provenziani netted four goals, eight assists, and four steals, while Toth had three goals, seven assists, five steals, and two blocks.
  • The Mt. St. Mary's match was all Rams from the get-go, as Fordham scored the first nine goals of the game before Mt. St. Mary's scored their first goal with 5:29 left in the second quarter.Toth notched a game-high seven goals to go with two steals, while Diego Tresa had three goals and two steals.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Fordham and Princeton have become the two powerhouses on the East Coast, winning each of their last four conferences championships and advancing to the National Collegiate Championship.
  • The Rams won last year's meeting in a top ten national showdown, 12-9, in the Bronx.
  • Previously, Princeton had won five straight match-ups, two of which were NC Opening Round matches at Princeton.
  • Fordham is 16-4 all-time against Wagner and have won 13 straight match-ups.The Seahawks' last victory came in 2018.
 
NEWS & NOTES
  • Diego Tresa was named MAWPC Rookie of the Week for the second time on Tuesday, after recording 11 goals and six steals over three games last weekend.
  • Andras Toth and Luca Provenziani were both named to USA Water Polo's Cutino Award Watch List on Thursday.
  • The Rams have won 47 consecutive MAWPC regular season games entering this season, while also having a 58-game win streak in any game against an MAWPC opponent.
  • Through nine games, Fordham is converting on 58% of its man-advantage opportunities (41-for-71).
  • Andras Toth has a team-high 41 goals and 19 steals this season, while Luca Provenziani is the team leader in assists (36) and points (60).
  • Barnabas Eppel (13) and Diego Tresa (17) have been a two-headed monster at the center position, drawing a combined 30 ejections.
  • Reid Thorson was recognized as the inaugural recipient of the Eric Weber Award, which will be given every year to a returning student-athlete that exhibits outstanding leadership and athletic ability. The award winner is bestowed with the honor of wearing cap #7 for the next season, which was Weber's number during his playing days.  The cap will also don Weber's initial's "EW" on the back.

  • Following this weekend, the Rams are next in action on Friday, October 10th, when they host Iona at 6:00 PM for the annual Judge Cup match.
