Fordham Athletics Enjoys Record-Breaking Fordham Giving Day

Over 450 donors raise $425K for the Rams

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham Athletics raised a record-breaking $425,000 on Fordham Giving Day director of intercollegiate athletics Ed Kull announced on Friday. The funds came from more than 450 donors who gave to the campaign.

Fordham Athletics Giving Day is a push for support for all varsity and club teams. All gifts of any size counted towards the campaign, which lasted for 1,841 minutes in honor of the university's founding.

Fordham Athletics would like to thank Thomas Courtney, FCRH '55, and Bob O'Shea, GABELLI '87, who sponsored the Double Gold Medal Challenge, the largest challenge gift Athletics has ever received on a Giving Day, and matched gifts three times up to $200,000. Tom is a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and former Olympic and World Record holder who has inspired many, including Bob, with his incredible legacy. Watch Tom's 1956 Olympic Gold Medal Race and read more about his performances in the 1956 Olympics.

All donors who made a gift of $1,000 or more to any Athletics designation received a copy of Thomas Courtney's book, The Inside Track.

"On behalf of our coaches, staff, and 500+ student-athletes, I can't thank all of our alumni, donors, families, and fans enough for your incredible support of the Fordham Athletic Department," said the director of intercollegiate athletics Ed Kull. "Your investment in our student-athletes allows our Rams to continue to succeed in and out of competition and continues to help propel Fordham Athletics into the future."

In addition, Athletics dollars accounted for 30% of the total University dollar participation for Giving Day this year and 20% of the total University donor participation.

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to the success of our Fordham Athletics Giving Day campaign.
