Â
Each academic year, every Division I sports team's APR is calculated using a simple and consistent formula. Scholarship student-athletes can earn 1 point for staying on course for a degree in their chosen major and 1 point for being retained (or graduating) at the end of each academic term. A team's total points are divided by points possible and then multiplied by 1,000. For schools that do not offer athletics scholarships, recruited student-athletes are tracked.Â
Â
Fordham recorded the second most teams with a perfect multi-year APR score among Atlantic 10 schools with nine (the conference does not sponsor water polo). Davidson had eleven teams with a perfect score while Saint Joseph's also had nine.
Â
The Atlantic 10 Conference ranks among the national leaders in APR data, posting a rate of 991. There were 13 Atlantic 10 schools above the NCAA national average in all sports, and 58 teams earned public recognition from the NCAA.
The 991 rate matches the highest average in the last six years and places the Atlantic 10 tied for fifth place among all 32 Division I conferences. The A-10 had 139 teams at or above the national average in their sport, representing nearly 61 percent of the league's total teams. Additionally, 57 programs recorded a perfect rate of 1,000.
The most recent APRs are multiyear rates based on scores from the 2021-22, and 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25 academic years.
