Boston, Mass. – (February 6, 2022) – Following a pair of disappointments on day one of the Northeastern Round Robin, the Fordham squash team rallied for a pair of victories on Sunday to close out the tournament, defeating Boston College and Boston University.
The Rams opened the day with a 5-4 victory over Boston College.
Fordham posted five three-game sweeps to secure the team victory.
Henry Frawley had the top win at second position, defeating Brendan Wise, 11-8, 11-7, and 11-6. Winthrop Reed had the next win at fourth position, topping Ajan Jayant, 11-6, 11-4, 11-5.
Sofia Arseniev then earned her first win for the Rams at fifth position, defeating John Broadhurst, 11-5, 11-5, and 11-3.
Dylan Panichello and
Caleb Schumacher closed out the team win with victories at the seventh and eighth slots, respectively. Panichello defeated Alberto Vollmer, 11-5, 11-5, and 11-5, while Schumacher topped Alexander Lobanov, 11-2, 11-9, and 11-6.
Fordham then closed the day with a 6-3 win over Boston University.
Frawley, Reed, Arseniev, Panichello, and Schumacher each earned their second win of the day against Terriers, while
Nicholas Choo added to the Rams' win total.
Frawley, Reed, and Arseniev each won in three-game sweeps over Milan Tahliana, Martin Brnak, and DJ Reed, respectively, while Panichello and Schumacher earned four-game wins over Shanmugesh Raja and Karan Mahtab.
Choo topped Jason Gao at sixth position in four games, 12-14, 11-9, 11-9, and 11-7.
Fordham will next be in action on Tuesday, February 8
th, when the Rams meet Connecticut College at the Chelsea Piers in Stamford, Connecticut.
