Boston, Mass. – (February 5, 2022) – After a number of canceled matches to start the semester, the Fordham squash team finally returned to the court on Saturday for the Northeastern Round Robin in Boston, Massachusetts.
The day began with a 7-2 loss to the Cornell Club squad. Fordham got victories from
Patrick Rodden and
Dylan Panichello in the highly competitive match.
Rodden defeated Daanyal Agboatwalla at first position in three games, 11-8, 11-2, and 11-2, while Panichello topped Noah Liao at the seventh slot in five games, 9-11, 6-11, 11-3, 11-8, and 11-9.
The match could have easily swung Fordham's way with
Winthrop Reed IV (4
th slot) and
Caleb Schumacher (8
th slot) each falling in five games, while
Henry Frawley (2
nd slot),
Sofia Arseniev (5
th slot), and
Nicholas Choo (6
th slot) each fell in four games.
In match two of the day, the Rams succumb to host Northeastern, 8-1.
The lone point for the Rams came in the final match, as
Henry Frawley topped Alexander Swenson in four games, 12-10, 11-4, 4-11, and 11-4.
Fordham came up short in three other matches that went five-games, as Rodden, Arseniev, and Reed lost to Elias Paul, Alexander Jafry, and Ben Rush, respectively.
The Rams conclude their stay at the Northeastern Round Robin on Sunday with matches against Boston College at 10:30 AM and Boston University at noon.
