Bronx, N.Y. – (November 5, 2022) – The Fordham squash team improved their record to 4-0 on the season, after posting three wins on Saturday.
The Rams opened the day with an 8-1 win over Bard College, who had only six players.
Fordham earned victories at the second through sixth slots for the team win.
Henry Frawley was the top winner at second position over Martin Graham, 11-4, 11-3, and 12-10, followed by
Justin George at the third slot with a win over Will Egan, 11-3, 11-2, and 11-1.
Jack Stanley won his fourth position match over Asa Kaplan in three games (11-0, 11-3, 11-1), as did
Aarav Jhunjhunwala at the fifth position (11-5, 11-4, 11-3), and Edwin Hess at sixth position (11-4, 11-7, 11-9).
Fordham then took on Vassar and pulled out a 5-4 team win.
Frawley earned his second win of the day at third position over Vassar's Patrick Looby in three games, 11-7, 11-6, and 11-9, while
Nicholas Gilman outlasted Sameer Mustafa in four games at second position, 11-5, 11-8, 4-11, and 11-8.
Then it was the bottom of the draw coming through for the Rams, as
Sofia Arseniev (7
th),
Robert Cruikshank (8
th), and
Nicholas Choo (9
th) each won their matches in three games over Kyle Benson (11-2, 11-5, 11-4), Josh Finkelstein (11-3, 11-1, 11-2), and Matthew O'Leary (11-5, 11-1, 11-2), respectively.
In the final match of the day, Fordham outlast Harvard Club, 6-3.
Frawley completed a perfect 3-0 day, as he defeated Zach Baskir at third position in four games, 11-8, 5-11, 13-11, and 11-9, while Gilman earned his second win of the day with a three-game win over Justin Curtis at second position, 11-8, 11-8, and 13-11.
Once again, the bottom of the draw locked down the team win for Rams, starting with Stanley's sixth slot win over Chu Wei Li in three games (14-12, 12-10, 11-8), while Arseniev posted a five-game comeback win over Alex Wu at seventh position (8-11, 9-11, 11-9, 11-5, 11-6). Cruikshank and Choo then closed out the team win with three-game victories over Will Weiter (8
th – 11-8, 11-5, 11-3) and Dante Lacuadra (9
th – 11-3, 11-5, 11-2), respectively.
Fordham will close out its opening weekend of matches on Sunday, November 6
th with home matches against Boston University at 10:00 AM and Georgetown at 2:00 PM.
