Bronx, N.Y. – (November 4, 2022) – The Fordham squash team opened its 2022-23 season on Friday with a 6-3 win over Cornell Club at the Lombardi Squash Courts.
Through the opening four matches, Fordham pulled out to a 3-1 lead.
Nicholas Gilman defeated Caleb Woo in three games at the second slot, 11-7, 11-7, and 11-2, while
Sofia Arseniev took the sixth slot match from William Kim, 11-7, 14-12, and 11-2. Then,
Nicholas Choo knocked off Varun Krishna at the eighth position, 11-8, 11-5, and 11-7.
The second slate saw Fordham grab wins at the first, fifth, and seventh slots to secure the 6-3 team win. First,
Robert Cruikshank topped Theo Reginensi at the seventh slot in three games, 11-7, 11-9, and 12-10, followed by
Jack Stanley taking down Himay Kapadia at the fifth slot, 6-11, 11-5, 11-8, and 11-6.
Adham Nassar closed out the team victory at first position with a five-game win over Daanyal Agboatwalla by scores of 8-11, 11-13, 11-9, 11-9, and 11-9.
The Rams continue a busy opening weekend on Saturday, November 5
th, as they head to Vassar for two matches against Bard (9:30 AM) and Vassar (10:30 AM), while hosting Harvard Club later in the day (5:00 PM).
