Bridgeport, Pa. – (November 3, 2022) - The Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) announced its weekly awards on Thursday with Fordham sweeping all three accolades. Fordham's
Luca Silvestri (Napoli, Italy) was selected as Player and Rookie of the Week, while
Thomas Lercari (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) earned the league's Defensive Player of the Week award.
For Silvestri, it is his first Player of the Week award and second Rookie of the Week accolade, while for Lercari, it is second Defensive Player of the Week award of the season.
Silvestri helped the Rams extend their win streak to 11 matches, as Fordham topped Bucknell and Mt. St. Mary's last Saturday. He netted a game-high five goals to go with an assist and three steals in a 13-12 win over Bucknell, while rallying for four goals, an assist, and two steals in a 23-7 win over Mt. St. Mary's.
Lercari made 10 saves including a penalty block in Fordham's 13-12 win over Bucknell, while he had 11 stops in just under three quarters of work in a win over Mt. St. Mary's to go along with two assists.
Silvestri, Lercari and the rest of the Rams will next be in action this weekend on the road, starting on Saturday, November 5th, as they play at #19 George Washington at noon and at Navy at 8:00 PM. The Rams then play at Johns Hopkins on Sunday, November 6
th at 11:00 AM.
