Tarrytown, N.Y. – (November 19, 2022) – The Fordham squash team made it 3-0 for the weekend on Saturday, taking a pair of matches at The Hackley School in Tarrytown, N.Y.
Fordham (10-3) opened Saturday with a 7-2 win over Washington University in St. Louis.
The Rams swept the top third in the order, led by #1 player
Adham Nassar, who topped Rohan Sampath in four games, 11-3, 15-13, 7-11, and 11-7.
Nicholas Gilman then defeated Albert Ming at second position in three games (11-3, 11-1, 11-6), while
Henry Frawley knocked off Julien Marmur at third position (11-7, 11-7, 11-7).
In the bottom half of the order,
Sofia Arseniev (5
th – 11-5, 11-2, 11-4),
Robert Cruikshank (6
th – 11-3 11-9, 11-6), and
Nicholas Choo (7
th – 14-12, 11-3, 12-10) all won their matches in three games.
In the afternoon, Fordham also beat George Washington by a 7-2 count.
Gillman and Frawley each earned their second win of the day against the Colonials. Gillman defeated Samuel Goodman, 11-8, 11-13, 11-5, and 12-10, at the second slot, while Frawley swept Marian Mansoor at third position, 11-8, 11-9, and 11-9.
The Rams then posted three-game sweeps at the fifth through eighth slots to complete the team win.
Bennett Van Liew won at fifth position over Henry Ohrstrom (11-7, 11-6, 11-1) with
Jack Stanley taking the sixth slot win over Leo-Paul Leger (11-8, 11-7, 11-1). Arseniev (7
th – 11-3, 11-3, 11-1) and Cruikshank (8
th – 11-2, 11-4, 11-1) rounded out the wins.
Fordham complete their weekend action on Sunday with an 11:00 AM match against Northeastern at The Hackley School in Tarrytown.
