Bronx, N.Y. – (November 18, 2022) – The Fordham squash team improved to 8-3 on the season on Friday night, defeating the Cal Golden Bears by a team score of 5-4 at the Lombardi Squash Courts.
The Rams had a 3-0 lead at the outset as the Golden Bears only had six players.
Fordham then earned wins at the fifth and sixth slots to secure the team victory.
Sofia Arseniev defeated Zachary Slonim at fifth position in three games, 11-1, 11-7, and 11-4, while
Robert Cruikshank knocked off Daniel Yang at sixth position in three games, 11-4, 11-6, 11-0.
Fordham fell short of adding more team points, as
Jack Stanley and
Henry Frawley came out on the wrong end of two five-games matches. Stanley fell to Richard Labourene at fourth position, 6-11, 11-7, 10-12, 12-10, and 11-8 with Frawley succumbing to Omar Cochinwala at the third slot, 11-7, 11-8 3-11, 11-8, and 12-10.
The Rams continued their weekend action on Saturday with two matches against Washington University in St. Louis (9:00 AM) and George Washington (1:00 PM). Both matches will take place at the Hackley School in Tarrytown, N.Y.
