Bronx, N.Y. – The first week of preseason camp is almost over so it's time to start our position-by-position breakdown of the 2021 Rams, starting with the quarterbacks.
The quarterback position is in the capable hands, and arm, of senior
Tim DeMorat, the 2021 Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. The 2020-21 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, he completed 92 of 129 passes for 1,049 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for two scores. DeMorat led the NCAA FCS in completion percentage (.721) and led the Patriot League and was sixth in the NCAA FCS in passing yards/game (349.7). He also led the Patriot League and was 13th in the NCAA FCS in passing efficiency (148.5).
Backing DeMorat up is senior
Sean Holland, who appeared in three games in the spring season while also handling the holding duties for the placekickers the past three years.
Other quarterbacks on the roster include junior
Tom Sharkey, and sophomores
Grant Wilson and
Joey Gulbin.
Sharkey, a transfer from Kutztown State, quarterbacked Wayne Hills High School to a North Jersey Section 1 Group 4 title and North Group 4 Bowl Game victory as a senior in 2018. He set a program single-season record with 2,413 passing yards and threw 33 touchdown passes that season.
Wilson played at Yorktown High School where he was a two-time District 6A Offensive Player of the Year and a two-time First Team All-District selection.
Gulbin is a graduate of Fairfield Warde High School in Fairfield, Conn., where he was named to the 2019
FCIAC All-East Team. He threw for over 2,800 yards and 23 touchdowns in high school career.
