Fairfax, Va. – (May 1, 2021) – The 2021 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship got underway on Saturday at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Virginia.
A short-handed Fordham Rams saw competitors in six women's events and six men's events on day one, led by
Kyla Hill, who posted season-best marks in both the women's 100- and 200-meter dash. She took tenth in the 100 meters at 12.30 seconds, while being 12
th in the 200 meters in 25.12 seconds.
Helen Connolly also registered a season-best mark for the Rams to lead a trio of runners in the 800-meter run. Connolly finished 19
th overall in a time of 2:18.74, while
Taylor Mascetta was 23
rd in 2:20.86 and
Mary Kathryn Underwood was 24
th in 2:22.53.
Sarinnagh Budris was the last women's runner to compete as she was 17
th in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.44.
In the field events,
Casey Metzler came close to breaking her hammer throw record once again, recording a distance of 144' 3", good for 13
th in the event, while
Skylar Harris was 19
th in the long jump at 17' 2".

In the men's competition,
Michael Capone clocked in a season-best time of 22.52 seconds in the 200-meter dash, good for 16
th overall. He also placed 22
nd in the 100-meter dash in 11.24 seconds.
Jack Craven had the best overall finish for the Rams on day one, as he as 10
th overall in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing in 10:09.31, followed by
Erik Brown in the 400-meter dash, where he was 13
th in 51.01 seconds.
Thomas Lewis (51.21) and
Jack Keegan (52.56) also ran in the 400 meters, placing 15
th and 17
th, respectively.
Justin Lombardi was the last men's runner on day one, as he finished 25
th in the 800-meter run in 2:00.05.
In the field events,
Justin Rhee was the lone participant, as he was 16
th in the long jump with a mark of 21' ½".
Competition at the Championship concludes on Sunday.
