Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – (November 6, 2021) – The final team to resume play following the pandemic pause finally got their chance on Saturday, as the Fordham squash team returned to action at the Vassar Round Robin in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
The return was a tough one, as the Rams fell short in all three matches.
The day opened with a 6-3 loss to Vassar with
Henry Frawley,
Justin George, and
Nicholas Choo earning victories for the Rams.
Frawley knocked off Vassar's Sameer Mustafa at the second slot, 11-7, 11-6, and 11-3, while George took down Max Swan at the fifth position, 11-9, 11-6, and 11-7. Choo had the final win at sixth position with a five-game win over Alex Wisneski (12-10, 5-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-8).
The Rams then fell to Northeastern by the same 6-3 count.
Frawley earned his second win of the day, taking down Alexander Swenson, 12-10, 11-8, and 11-3, while Winthrop Reed grabbed his first victory at the fourth slot, getting past William Wallace, 11-9, 11-3 and 11-9. The final win came from
Caleb Schumacher at the eighth slot over Vael Joseph in five games, 11-6, 8-11, 10-12, 11-7, and 12-10.
Fordham's final match ended in an 8-1 loss to Georgetown with the lone point coming from
Dylan Panichello at seventh position over Max Sodi, 10-12, 11-9, 11-6, and 11-9.
The Rams will next be in action November 12-14 at the Navy Round Robin, where they will face off with Navy, Haverford, Denison, and Boston University.
