Bronx, N.Y. – (November 20, 2021) – The Fordham squash team had its first home matches of the season this weekend at the Lombardi Squash Courts, picking up victories in both games to extend their win streak to three matches.
On Friday night, Fordham posted a 7-2 over Cal-Berkeley with the trio of
Henry Frawley, Winthrop Reed and
Dylan Panichello.
Frawley earned a second slot win over Cal's Mohsin Sarwari in three games (11-4, 11-3, 11-1), while Reed took the fourth slot match over Zachary Slonim in three games (11-6, 11-2, 11-3). Panichello also earned a 3-0 sweep at fifth position, taking down Moritz Stahl, 11-2, 11-5, and 11-6.
On Saturday morning, the Rams won a tightly fought contest with Washington University in St. Louis, 5-4.
Frawley, Reed, and Panichello each earned their second win of the weekend at the second, fourth, and seventh position, while
Justin George and
Nicholas Choo also won at fifth and sixth position.
Frawley was again a three-game winner over Johnny Lu (11-3, 11-4, 11-7) with Reed ousting Connor Browder in three games (11-7, 11-8, 11-6). George was also a three-game sweep victor over Julien Marmur (11-6, 11-9, 11-4).
It took a little more time, but Choo and Panichello were winners in four games over Atri Bhattacharyya (11-5, 11-8, 10-12, 11-6) and Lucas Veloria (11-7, 11-8, 3-11, 11-6) respectively.
The Rams are back on the hardwood on Saturday, December 4
th for a pair of matches against NYU at 10:00 AM and Swarthmore at 12:00 PM.
