Annapolis, Md. – (November 14, 2021) – The Fordham squash team was back in action this weekend at the Navy Round Robin, held in Annapolis, Maryland, and though they were short-handed, the Rams were able to notch their first win of the season.
The round robin started on Friday with a 9-0 loss to Navy, followed by a 9-0 loss on Saturday to Haverford.
In match three of the weekend, Fordham fell to Denison by an 8-1 count. The lone point for the Rams came from
Caleb Schumacher, who defeated Michael Chin Lee at seventh position in four games, 7-11, 11-7, 11-7, and 11-7.
On Sunday, the Rams finally broke into the win column with a 5-3 victory over Boston University.
Up 1-0 courtesy of a default win, Fordham won four of the remaining seven matches. Schumacher earned his second win of the weekend with a four-game win over Shanmugesh Raja, 11-5, 3-11, 11-8, and 11-3.
Henry Frawley registered a win at first position over Milan Tahliana in three games (12-10, 11-5, 11-3), as did
Justin George at fourth position over Martin Brnak (11-6, 11-7, 11-5).
Dylan Panichello had the final win of the day at sixth position over Jason Gao in four games (11-6, 11-5, 2-11, 12-10).
The Rams will next be in action on Friday, November 19
th, as they host Cal at the Lombardi Squash Courts, starting at 7:00 PM.
