Cross Country Competes at Atlantic 10 Championship

Fordham Women Place Tenth; Men Finish 11th

Cedarville, Ohio – (October 30, 2021) – The first Atlantic 10 Championship of the 2021-22 year took place on Saturday morning, as the cross country crowns were handed out at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course in Cedarville, Ohio.
 
The women's championship was won by George Washington with a score of 50 points, as the Colonials had five runners finish in the top 20.  Dayton was second with 75 points, followed by Massachusetts (105), Richmond (107), and George Mason (113) to round out the top five.  Fordham placed tenth in the team standing with 229 points.
 
George Mason's Annabelle Eastman was the individual champion, as she clocked in at 17:24.6 over the 5K course.
 
Fordham's top performer was Bridget Alex, who placed 23rd overall in a time of 18:24.3, followed by Taylor Mascetta in 39th (19:11.0) and Germaine Harbaugh in 41st (11:23.8).  Nicoleta Papavasilakis was the next Ram across the line in 62nd (19:32.3) with Maddy Kopec (19:36.0) and Madeleine Ryan (19:36.4) coming across in 66th and 67th place, respectively.
 
The remaining Rams competing at the Atlantic 10 Championship were Emmy Longmore (106th – 20:32.7), Nathania Tan (108th – 20:41.3), Marin Bogulski (109th – 20:44.3), and Alexandra Thomas (DNF).A10WXC
 
In the men's championship, La Salle came away with the title, scoring 53 points with five runners in the top 20 finishers.  Saint Louis placed second with 92 points, followed by George Mason (98), Dayton (109), and Richmond (135).  Fordham finished 11th in the standings with 288 points.
 
Peter Borger of Richmond won the individual race as he clocked in at 24:35.3 over the 8K course.
 
The Rams' best finisher was Brandon Hall, who was 32nd overall in a time of 25:44.7, followed by Steven Zucca in 43rd place with a time of 25:56.0.  Colin Flood was the next Ram across the line in 62nd (26:14.0) with Christopher Strzelinski in 74th (26:24.5), Rodolfo Sanchez in 88th (26:42.1), and Ryan Fahey in 93rd (26:52.5). 
 
Fordham's remaining competitors on Saturday included Daniel Asher (110th – 27:33.1), Justin Lombardi (117th – 27:47.4), Nathan Bezuneh (120th – 27:58.5), and Samuel Wilcox (125th – 28:46.2).
 
The Rams will next be in action on Friday, November 12th, as they run at the NCAA Northeast Regional, held at Franklin Park in Boston, Massachusetts.
