Phil Steele's 2020 NCAA FCS Preseason All-Conference Teams
Bronx, N.Y. – Nineteen members of the Fordham University football squad, comprising 22 positions, were named to the 2020 Phil Steele Preseason All-Patriot League Team.
Named to the first team were , junior quarterback
Tim DeMorat, who was also named the preseason offensive player of the year, along with seniors
Glenn Cunningham (LB),
Zach Davis (RB),
Andrew Mevis (PK),
Trey Sneed (RB),
Ellis Taylor (DL), and
Nick Zakelj (OL); and juniors
Ryan Greenhagen (LB),
Fotis Kokosioulis (AP), and
Phil Saleh (OL).
Being placed on the second team were seniors
Jesse Bramble (DB),
Hamze El-Zayat (WR) and junior
Naim Mayfield (PR), with Mevis also earning second team honors at punter and Kokosioulis at kick return.
On the third team the Rams are represented by seniors
Jonathan Coste (DL),
Dervin Hylton, Jr. (DB), and
Jack Lynch (TE); junior
Anthony Tony-Itoyah (DB); and sophomores
Dequece Carter (WR) and
Lucas Portes (OL) with Kokosioulis also earning third team accolades at wide receiver.

• Led League and ranked 36th in NCAA FCS in total passing yards
• Led Patriot League in points responsible for/game (12.2) and completions per game (19.33)
• Second in the League in passing efficiency (127.4) and total offense (209/7 yards/game)

• Has 40.5 career tackles for loss, third all-time at Fordham.
Zach Davis
Zach Davis (RB - Sr., Wallingford, Conn./Sheehan)

• Started all 12 games at running back for the Rams in 2019
• Rushed 200 times for 1,013 yards and seven touchdowns
• Led the Rams and the Patriot League in rushing (84.4 yards/game)
• Led Patriot League with seven rushing touchdowns
• Second in Patriot League and 31st in the NCAA FCS in total rushing yards
• Second in Patriot League and 36th in NCAA FCS in rushing yards/game (84.4)

• Appeared in all 12 games at wide receiver, making two starts
• Led Patriot League with seven receiving touchdowns
• Third on team with 49 receptions for 621 yards
• Also returned 40 kickoffs for 869 yards (21.7 average), ranking second in the Patriot League
• Also rushed five times for 27 yards
• Led Patriot League and was 21st in the NCAA FCS in all-purpose yards (126.58 yards/game)

• Started first two games in the defensive backfield for the Rams in 2019 before suffering a season-ending injury

Hamze El-Zayat (WR - Sr., Dearborn, Mich./Fordson)

• Started all 12 games at wide out as a junior
• Led team with 62 receptions for 642 yards with four touchdowns
• Second on team in receiving yards and touchdowns
• Third in Patriot League in receptions/game (5.3)
Naim Mayfield (PR - Jr., Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan)
• Named 2019 Phil Steele Third Team All-Patriot League as a kick returner
• Appeared in all 12 games as a sophomore, both at running back and in defensive backfield
• Rushed 37 times for 175 yards
• Carried nine times for 71 yards against

• Ran four times for 27 yards in win at Bryant
• Returned eight kickoffs for 163 yards (20.4 average) and five punts for 66 yards (13.2 average)

Dequece Carter (WR – So., Louisa, Va./Woodberry Forest School)

• Named a 2019 HERO Sports Freshman All-American
• Started all 12 games as a rookie
• Had 53 catches for a team-high 723 yards and five touchdowns
• Set school freshman records for most receptions and most receiving yards
• Second on team in receiving touchdowns, third in receptions
• Made a season-high ten catches for 87 yards in season finale win over
Bucknell
• Hauled in eight passes for 170 yards and one touchdown at Lafayette
• The 170 receiving yards was one shy of the Fordham freshman record
• Had eight catches for 122 yards and two scores against Holy Cross
• Named Patriot League Rookie of the Year following Holy Cross game
Jonathan Coste (DL - Sr., Queens, N.Y./Christ the King)
• Appeared in eleven games, starting eight at nose tackle
• Recorded 34 total tackles, 14 solo, including 7.5 for loss and 3.5 sacks
• Also had seven quarterback hurries, tying for second on team
• Forced one fumble and blocked one kick
Dervin Hylton, Jr. (DB - Sr., Worcester, Mass./Worcester Academy)
• Appeared in eleven games as a junior, starting ten at cornerback
• Recorded 37 total tackles, 22 solo
• Also had two interceptions, five pass breakups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery
• Finished with a career-high eight tackles, four solo, and broke up three passes in Richmond win
Jack Lynch (TE - Sr., Berlin, Conn./Berlin)
• Started all 12 games at tight end in 2019
• Made three catches for 19 yards and two scores
• Hauled in a five-yard scoring strike at Ball State for his first collegiate catch
• Grabbed an eleven-yard touchdown pass at Georgetown
Lucas Portes (OL - So., Gaithersburg, Md. Good Counsel)
• Started all 12 games as a freshman at left guard
• Blocked for the top-ranked offense in the Patriot League (357.2 yards/game)

Anthony Tony-Itoyah (DB - Jr., Denton, Tex./Denton)
• Appeared ten games at defensive back in 2019, starting four at strong safety
• Recorded 53 total tackles, fifth best on the team
• Among his 53 stops were 42 solo tackles, including 2.5 for loss
• Also had two pass breakups and one forced fumble
• Finished with eleven tackles, five solo, including 0.5 for loss at Ball State
