Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham's
Fabian Mauritzson has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference office yesterday. It is the first weekly award of the year for Mauritzson.
Mauritzson, a senior from Uppsala, Sweden, went 2-1 in singles play and 1-1 in doubles play on the week. He closed out the week by rallying from match point at first singles at 5-6 in the third set to clinch deciding match in tiebreak over Dayton's Connor Bruce (6-2, 1-6, 7-6(5)) to give the Rams a 4-3 win over the Flyers. He also won at first singles over Saint Louis' Justin Nogalski in straight sets (6-1, 6-1) on Saturday. He also teamed up with
Lutwin de Macar to defeat Dayton's Bruce and Joe DeMarco, 7-6(3), to help Fordham earn the doubles point versus Dayton.
The Rams return to action on Saturday, March 14, as they travel out to Long Island to take on Hofstra University at 3:00 p.m.
