Bronx, N.Y. – (February 1, 2020) – The Fordham squash team wrapped up their home schedule on Saturday afternoon at the Lombardi Squash Courts, sweeping all the matches.
The day started with a 5-4 win over NYU, where Fordham began the match behind by one, having to default the #9 match. The Rams quickly got ahead of NYU, pick up victories at the #6 and #8 slots. First,
Justin George defeated Gene Chung, 11-6, 11-8, and 11-1, at the sixth position, while
Dylan Panichello topped William McPhail, 11-9, 11-5, and 11-8, at the eighth slot.
Fordham added to the lead behind a four-game win by
Justin Deckoff at the fourth slot over Max White, 6-11, 11-2, 11-7, and 11-8.
The Rams then closed out the team win with big wins by
Griffin Fitzgerald and
Jacob Bennett. Fitzgerald rallied to defeat Andre Megliola in five games at the second slot, 7-11, 11-4, 11-6, 7-11, and 11-8, while Bennett outlasted Kenneth Nakamura in four games, 12-10, 11-9, 8-11, and 15-13.
Fordham then took on Boston University, defeating the Terriers, 6-3.

The Rams took home wins from the #3 slot to the #8 slot in the match, starting with
Bruce Czachor at the third position defeating Stefano Viacava, 11-4, 11-3, and 11-5. Deckoff earned his second win of the afternoon, topping Julian Lee at the fourth slot, 11-7, 11-4, 7-11, and 11-6, as did George, Bennett, and Panichello at the sixth through eighth slots.
The final win came from
Winthrop Reed IV, as he knocked off Matthew Wallace at the fifth slot, 11-7, 11-6, and 11-2.
The third match for Fordham ended up being a forfeit win over Siena.
The Fordham squash team will now prepare for the CSA Team Championship, which will be held February 28 through March 1 in Boston, Massachusetts.
