Seven Harriers Selected to Fordham’s 25th A-10 Anniversary Team

Ram Fans Make Their Choices for A-10 Anniversary Squad

Bronx, N.Y. – (November 13, 2020) – Following 48 hours of voting, Fordham fans have selected their top choices for the Fordham men's cross country A-10 25th Anniversary Team.
 
The top seven vote-getters were led by three-time All-Atlantic 10 performers Ryan Kutch and Thomas Slattery.  They are joined by Brian Cook, Mike Turi, Tom Finnerty, Carl DiSarno, and Juan Estrella.

The next anniversary team vote starts on Monday, November 17th, featuring the first of four women's soccer votes.
 
Here is a deeper look at each individual on Fordham's 25th A-10 Anniversary Team:
 
KutchA10XCVerticalRyan Kutch was the first Ram to ever win the individual title at the Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championship in 2018 in a time of 24:36.4 at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Virginia.  He received All-Atlantic 10 honors three times from 2017-19, finishing ninth in 2017 (25:31.8), first in 2018, and second in 2019 (25:06.6), becoming the second Ram to accomplish that feat.  Additionally, he was an Academic All-Conference selection twice for cross country (2018 & 2019), a three-year member of the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, and twice earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.  In 2019, Kutch became the first Fordham runner to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championship since the 1970s and received NCAA Division I All-Region accolades.
TSlatteryA10XCVerticalThomas Slattery was the first Ram to earn All-Atlantic 10 honors three times from 2015 to 2017.  His best finish second in 2017 A-10 Championship, held at Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Virginia, running 25:17.3.  He was also 11th in 2016 in 25:05.5 and 10th in 2015 at 24:56.2.  A member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, Slattery also won the 2017 Metropolitan Cross Country Championship at Van Cortlandt Park and is the current cross country time record holder at 24:08, which he ran at Lehigh's Paul Short Invitational in 2017.
CookA10XCVerticalBrian Cook competed at the Atlantic 10 Championship three times, earning All-Atlantic 10 honors in 2016.  He finished 12th overall on the Pole Green Park course in Mechanicsville, Virginia, clocking in at 25:07.5, just two seconds behind teammate Thomas Slattery.  It marked the first time Fordham had multiple runners place in the top 15 at the A-10 Championship and earn All-Conference honors.  Cook was also the 2016 Metropolitan Cross Country Champion and a two-time member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
TuriA10XCVerticalMike Turi was one of Fordham most consistent performers at the Atlantic 10 Championship, placing in the top 40 all four times he competed.  Over his first three Championships, he was 28th in 2012, 26th in 2013, and 27th in 2014, while being 36th in 2015.  His best placing came on the Pole Green Park course in Mechanicsville, Virginia, as he clocked in at 24:46.0.  A four-year member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, Turi was also the IC4A University Division Cross Country champion in 2014 (25:46.0), helping Fordham win the team title at Van Cortlandt Park.
FinnertyA10XCVerticalTom Finnerty had a pair of top 40 finishes at the Atlantic 10 Championships in 2005 and 2006.  His best go was at the 2006 A-10 Championship, held at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, placing 27th overall in 26:23.65.  He also earned Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference honors that season and was a multiple-time selection to the Commissioner's Honor Roll.  Additionally, Finnerty was a top 10 finisher at the 2006 IC4A Championship, helping the Rams win the University Division title.
DiSarnoA10XCVerticalCarl DiSarno had a pair of top 20 finishes at the Atlantic 10 Championship for Fordham.  He finished 19th overall at 2000 A-10 Championship, held at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he clocked in at 26:22.  He followed that by taking 20th at the 2001 Championship, held at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia, in 26:09.3.  Additionally, DiSarno was a two-time team MVP for cross country, a team captain as a senior, and a two-time top 15 finisher at the IC4A Championship.
EstrellaA10XCVerticalJuan Estrella was a multiple-time competitor at the A-10 Championship with his best finish coming at the 1998 Championship held at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia, clocking in at 26:25.  In other meets that season, he was Fordham's top finisher at the IC4A Championship at Van Cortlandt Park, placing 26th in 26:28.3, as well as at the Metropolitan Championship, taking 21st in 26:50.
