Softball America Top 100 ($)
Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham softball senior standout
Madie Aughinbaugh has been named to Softball America's Top 100 College Players for the 2020 season, the publication announced on Thursday. In its second season of listing Division I's top players, Aughinbaugh came in at #99, one of three student-athletes from the Atlantic 10. She is one of 33 pitchers to make the list and one of just nine two-way players.
Â
Aughinbaugh is deserving of the placement as she is coming off a fantastic junior season in which she became the fourth Ram in program history to be named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Year. In addition to that, she was named First Team All-Conference, Tournament Most Outstanding Player, and Third-Team NFCA All-Region for a third consecutive year in the pitcher/utility slot.
Â
Had a 17-14 overall record last year with a 2.44 ERA over 38 appearances and 33 starts with 25 complete games, two saves, and one shutout, while hitting a team-high .354 and tying for the lead with 63 hits. She was also second with 40 RBI and 10 doubles, and sixth with 24 runs scored. As usual, she turned her game up a notch in conference play, going 11-2 with a 1.77 ERA over 15 conference appearances and 12 starts. Over four A-10 postseason contests, hit .692 with nine hits and tallied a 3-1 record and 2.07 ERA while going the distance in all four games. At the NCAA Regional hosted by #2 Washington, she limited the Huskies to two runs, one earned, with two strikeouts over six innings, then shut out Seattle for seven innings before allowing a walk-off sacrifice fly in the eighth inning.
Â
Last year was the second straight season she was named MVP of the A-10 Championship and the third consecutive year she garnered league year-end honors, finishing on the Second Team as a sophomore and All-Rookie as a freshman. She is also a three-time member of the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Â
She ranks in or just outside the top-five in every major pitching category in Fordham history - 105 appearances (6
th), 80 starts (5
th), 52 complete games (3
rd), 51 wins (T-3
rd), 509.0 innings (4
