Bronx, N.Y. – (January 14, 2020) – Fresh off its trip to Barcelona, Spain, the Fordham squash team took part in its first match of the semester, falling to Connecticut College by a 9-0 score.
The loss puts Fordham at 14-6 on the year.
Connecticut College, ranked #27 in the latest CSA rankings, won each of the top seven matches in three games. MD Jawad took the top slot match against Fordham's
William Douglass. Douglass won the first game, 11-4, before dropping the next two, 11-4, 11-4, and was forced to retire due to injury.
Justin Deckoff kept his fifth slot match tight against Billy Fleurima, but fell by scores of 11-4, 13-11, and 11-9,
The lone match to go past three games came at the eighth slot, where
Caleb Schumacher went the distance against Connecticut College's Kunal Sheth, but fell short, 11-9, 7-11, 7-11, 11-4, and 11-0.
The Rams are back in action on Friday, January 17
th, when the team hosts Chatham at 7:00 PM at the Lombardi Squash Courts.
