Alyssa Plantz, and
Bridget Ward were named assistant athletic trainers at Fordham University it was announced today by head athletic trainer
Erin Cameron.

Alexandra Griffin joins the Fordham staff after serving as an assistant trainer at the Stevens Institute of Technology since 2015. In her role with the Ducks, Griffin was the direct athletic trainer for several of Stevens' teams including volleyball, cross country, women's basketball, and track & field.
Prior to Stevens, Griffin received clinical experience while earning her M.S. in athletic training at Florida International University in Miami. Griffin's roles during her studies included stints at the Hommen Orthopedic Institute and Miami Central Senior High School, in addition to working with FIU athletics for a variety of sports.Â
During her tenure, Griffin evaluated injuries, conducted initial patient evaluations, and performed upper and lower extremity evaluations amongst other duties. Â
Griffin's athletic training career also includes stints with the New York Jets, as well as Howard University, the District of Columbia Interscholastic Athletic Association, and International Sports training camp.Â
Griffin completed her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology-Sports Medicine in 2011 from the University of Virginia before receiving her master's degree in Athletic Training in 2015 at FIU.

Alyssa Plantz comes to Fordham after serving as a seasonal athletic trainer with the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football since January of 2019. She provided medical coverage for all home and away practices and competitions, including preseason camp. She also designed daily rehabilitation programs with a variety of correctional exercises and soft tissue mobilizations.

Before her work in San Diego, Plantz was an athletic trainer at the University of Dayton from 2015-2019 where she worked with the football, softball, rowing and baseball programs. Among her responsibilities were supervising undergraduate student interns within the football program and implementing baseline concussion testing protocol. She also assisted with rehabilitations and acted as lead manager for Gatorade camp logistics and scheduling.

From 2016-2018, Plantz also served as the athletic trainer for the Dayton Club Hockey team.

A 2013 graduate of the University of Arkansas where she received a degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Applied Exercise Science, Plantz went on to receive a master's degree from the school in 2015 in the Athletic Training Education Program. While in graduate school, she served as a graduate athletic training student with the Arkansas football and women's gymnastics teams as well as with the Bentonville and Rogers Heritage high schools.

Bridget Ward arrives at Fordham after working as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Connecticut College since September of 2017. She worked directly with the director of sports medicine at Connecticut College, providing injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation for the school's 26 varsity sports, working closely with the men's and women's soccer, ice hockey, and lacrosse programs.

Prior to her stint at Connecticut College, Ward served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at St. John's University where she was responsible for assisting with all aspects of the athletic training department.

At St. John's, Ward was directly responsible for overseeing the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for the men's lacrosse, men's and women's fencing, men's and women's soccer spring seasons, and men's and women's tennis teams. Her duties also included supervising and mentoring athletic training students from LIU-Brooklyn.

Prior to her arrival at St. John's, Ward worked as an athletic training intern at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Florida. In this position, she most notably assisted in providing primary medical coverage for amateur, semi-professional and professional sporting events hosted by the Disney-owned complex.

A native of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ward received her bachelor's degree in athletic training from the State University of New York at Cortland in 2014 and a master's of professional studies in sport management at St. John's in 2017. At Cortland, she also served as the President of the Athletic Training Club.
