Fordham Athletics Adds Two Assistant Trainers

Christopher Duffy and Lisa Izzi join Fordham staff

Bronx, N.Y. – Christopher Duffy and Lisa Izzi have been named assistant athletic trainers at Fordham University it was announced today by head athletic trainer Erin Cameron.
 
Christopher Duffy joins the Fordham staff after working with the Northwestern University athletic training staff from January of 2018 to April 2019. He provided care under the athletic trainer, primarily working with women's lacrosse, while also assisting with the baseball, wrestling, swimming, tennis, women's soccer, and football programs. Duffy had a focus on daily activities and administrative responsibility, including clinical specializations, pre-participation physicals, and drug testing.
 
Prior to his stay at Northwestern, Duffy worked with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology athletic training staff from July until November of 2018. At MIT he worked with the football, track and field, volleyball, and softball programs, handling daily activities such as treatment and management of student-athletes, including post-surgical cases, daily practice and event preparation and coverage, and communications with physicians and coaches.
 
In the summer of 2018, Duffy served with the Seattle Mariners baseball club in Peoria, Arizona. He worked with various professionals, including coaches, athletic trainers, physical therapists, physicians, and strength and conditioning specialists to contribute to the care of professional baseball athletics.
 
A 2015 graduate of the University of Oregon where he received a degree in Human Physiology with a concentration in Athletic Medicine and a minor in Business, Duffy received a master's degree in Athletic Training from Boston University in 2019.
 
Lisa Izzi comes to Fordham after serving as an athletic trainer for camp services at Appalachian State University in the summer of 2019 where she helped provide first aid and emergency care to the athletes.
 
In 2018-2019, Izzi was an intern athletic trainer at Appalachian State, working with the cross country and track and field programs. She prepared student-athletes for practice and meets as well as providing post activity treatments.
 
Prior to her internship, Izzi served as an athletic trainer at Orthopaedic Specialists of North Carolina, in Raleigh, North Carolina, serving as an outreach athletic trainer and an urgent care athletic trainer. She was the head athletic trainer at a local middle and high school and assisted physician assistants and doctors with direct patient care.
 
Izzi has international sports medicine experience, serving as a level 1 sports trainer at Sports Medicine Australia in Claremont, Western Australia from May 2017 until July 2017, and started her career as an athletic training student at Davidson College in 2015 where she worked with the football team.
 
Izzi is a 2017 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she received a degree in Athletic Trainer. She also earned a master's degree from Old Dominion University in Sports Management in 2019.
