Fordham Football Report #4

A look at the Rams’ wide receivers/tight ends

Bronx, N.Y. - As the first week of the 2019 Fordham football fall camp comes to an end we continue our position-by-position breakdown of the 2019 Rams with a peek at the wide receivers.

The Fordham receiving corps was hit hard by graduation, losing it top three receivers including All-Patriot League receiver Austin Longi and All-League tight end Isaiah Searight. But the unit does return senior captain Joe Ferraro, who went from walk-on to scholarship player prior to the start of last year when he caught 13 passes for 144 yards.

Also back is junior Hunter Harris, who grabbed seven passes for 116 yards and one touchdown last fall, and senior Jonah Isaac, who had two receptions for 17 yards in 2018.

Other returning wide receivers include juniors Hamze El-Zayat, who appeared in six games as a sophomore, and Brendan Donlon, who did not see action last year, along with sophomore Edward Schwartz, Jr., who did not appear in a game as a freshman.

Newcomers to wide receiver include junior Tyler Gilfus, a transfer from Syracuse who holds the record for career passing yards at Thousand Islands High School; Dequece Carter, the 2018 Virginia Prep School Player of the Year at Woodbury Forest School; MJ Wright, a 2018 Third Team All-State selection at Red Bank Catholic High School; Dan Byrnes, a product of Dowingtown West High School in Downingtown, Pennsylvania; sophomore Fotis Kokosioulis, a transfer from Northern Illinois University; and Joe Mariani, who played high school ball at The Benjamin School in West Palm Beach, Florida.

At tight end the Rams return junior Jack Lynch, who appeared in ten games as a sophomore, both at tight end and on special teams, along with junior Jack Gildea, who appeared in all eleven games as a sophomore, both at tight end and on special teams. They are joined by sophomore Peter Fitzgerald, who moves to tight end from linebacker, along with newcomer Jeff Ciccio, a 2018 Mass Prep Stars Second Team selection at Bridgewater-Raynham High School in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.
