Bronx, N.Y. – After a day off on Tuesday, the 2019 Fordham football Rams were back on the field on Wednesday for their first day of practice in full pads. And now that the pads are on, we continue our position-by-position look at the 2019 squad as we check out the running backs.

Zach Davis
Last fall, the Fordham running back unit was hit by injury, with the loss of starter
Zach Davis. Davis started the first two games, rushing for 94 yards, before suffering a season-ending injury.

Florida transfer
Tyriek Hopkins stepped up in Davis' absence to lead the team in rushing, gaining 476 yards and scoring four times while also catching nine passes.

Sophomore
Naim Mayfield gained valuable experience in his rookie season, picking up 157 yards over eight games with two touchdowns while also recording seven receptions.

Also back from last year is sophomore
Antonio Cortez Feria, who saw limited action in his freshman season.

Newcomers to the offensive backfield include junior
Trey Sneed, a transfer from Rutgers who appeared in all eleven games last year for the Scarlet Knights, along with freshman
Trey Wilson III, a product of Montclair Kimberley Academy in Montclair, N.J.

Zach Davis (Jr., 5-10, 198)
• Appeared in two games as a sophomore in 2018, starting both.
• Rushed for 94 yards on 26 carries with one touchdown.
• Carried 17 times for 69 yards and one score vs. CCSU.
• Gained 25 yards on nine rushes in opener at Charlotte.

Tyriek Hopkins (Sr., 5-9, 185)
• Appeared in all eleven games at running back for the Rams in 2018, starting seven.
• Led team with 476 rushing yards on 106 carries with four touchdowns.
• Also had nine receptions for 71 yards.
• Rushed for a season-high 176 yards on 21 carries with one score against Bryant.

Naim Mayfield (So., 5-10, 165)
• Appeared in eight games as a freshman, both at running back and on special teams.
• Rushed for 157 yards on 45 carries with two scores.
• Also caught seven passes for 72 yards.
• Gained 89 yards on 19 rushes with two touchdowns and caught two passes for ten yards in win at Lehigh.

Antonio Cortez Feria (So., 5-10, 200)
• Appeared in one game as a freshman, recording one carry.

Trey Sneed (Jr., 5-11, 215)
• Played in all 12 games with one start at running back at Rutgers.
• Named to the Academic All-Big Ten list.
• Totaled 13 carries for 43 yards.
• Added three receptions for 23 yards.

Trey Wilson III (Fr., 5-9, 165)
• A two-sport athlete at Montclair Kimberley Academy in Montclair, N.J.
• Played football for head coach Anthony Rea.
• Scored 16 touchdowns as a junior in just three games.
