Bronx, N.Y. – As the team enters the final week of the 2019 Fordham football fall camp, we continue our position-by-position look at the Rams with the defensive backs.

Fordham last three defensive back starters to graduation, including All-Patriot League cornerback
Dylan Mabin, who is in training camp with the Oakland Raiders. However, the Rams do return the fourth starter from 2018 in cornerback
Jesse Bramble, a 2019 preseason All-Patriot League pick as well as a team captain. Last fall, Bramble started all eleven games in the defensive backfield, making 39 total tackles, 31 solo, and recorded four interceptions, nine pass breakups, and two quarterback hurries. He led team in interceptions and was second in pass breakups and was second in the Patriot League and 23rd in the NCAA FCS, in passes defended/game (1.18).

Also back for the Rams is senior
James Biggs-Frazier, a 2019 captain who missed most of last season with an injury after recording 20 total tackles, eleven solo, including 2.5 for loss and 0.5 sacks in 2017.

Other experienced players returning to the defensive backfield include juniors
Dervin Hylton, Jr., who appeared in eight games as a sophomore, starting one, while making eleven tackles, seven solo;
Cooper Weiss, who saw action in eight games last year, both in the defensive backfield and on special teams, recording 19 total tackles, 12 solo, including 0.5 for loss; and
Jack Mueller, who appeared in one game in 2018.

Sophomores returning include
Cameron Blair, who played in six games as a freshman, both at cornerback and on special teams, registering six solo tackles and broke up one pass;
Natani Drati, who saw action in nine games last fall, both in the defensive backfield and on special teams, making one start, recording eight total tackles, five solo; and
Anthony Tony-Itoyah, who appeared in six games as a freshman, both in the defensive backfield and on special teams, recording making 23 total tackles, 14 solo, including 0.5 for loss.

Newcomers to the defensive backfield include
Prince-Elijah DeGroat; an All-Conference and All-City selection at Curtis High School on Staten Island;
B.J. Ferguson, who earned Second Team All-GCL South honors at St. Xavier High school in Cincinnati, Ohio;
Nasir McNair, a 2018 Second Team All-State selection at Bayonne High School in Bayonne, New Jersey;
Parker Spillers, a multi-sport athlete at Pace Academy in Atlanta, Georgia;
Stephen Williams II, a member of two Florida state championships teams at Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Florida;
Jackson Barletta, a 2018 First Team All-MAPL selection at The Hun School in Princeton, New Jersey; and rookie
John Walters.
