Bronx, N.Y. – (June 20, 2019) - Fordham baseball associate head coach
Rob DiToma has been named the head coach at Fairleigh Dickinson University, effective immediately, the school announced today. DiToma has spent the last six seasons at Rose Hill, the last two as associate head coach and past three as recruiting coordinator. He becomes the 12
th head coach in FDU baseball history.
"I want to thank Brad Hurlbut, and the entire athletics department of Fairleigh Dickinson University for entrusting me with the baseball program," said DiToma. "The vision, direction and culture that Brad has created was evident in the interview process and I cannot be more excited to be a part of the future of Fairleigh Dickinson. It has been an amazing journey and lifelong dream of mine to be the head coach of a Division I baseball program and I am beyond grateful for the opportunity that I have been given here. I look forward to getting started!"
DiToma was instrumental in constructing the Rams' roster which won the Atlantic 10 Championship for the first times in 21 years this past season, and set modern day program records for wins (38), stolen bases (178), and strikeouts (605).
Over the course of his time at Fordham, DiToma helped the Rams become the top base stealing team in the nation, leading the NCAA in stolen bases in 2018 and 2019 and reaching at least 100 stolen bases three times in six seasons.
On the recruiting end, DiToma helped land perennial award-winning talent including the 2018 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year
Jake MacKenzie and 2019 Third Team All-American and Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Year
John Stankiewicz. Since 2015, nine Fordham baseball players have gone on to be drafted or signed to Major League Baseball free agent contracts.
