Amherst, Mass. – (May 4, 2019) – The 2019 Atlantic 10 Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship got underway on Saturday at the UMass Track & Field Complex in Amherst, Massachusetts. Through day one, Fordham is currently seventh out of 13 teams with 17 points.
The Rams scoring came from a quartet of performances, two from track events and two from field events.
Highlighting day one was senior
Laurel Fisher, who captured bronze in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, taking third in a school record time of 10:20.34. She broke her own record of 10:25.01, set at last year's Atlantic 10 Championship.
Abigail Taylor was the other track scorer on Saturday, placing fifth in the 10,000 meter run in 35:43.91.
Angelina Grebe just missed scoring in the 10,00 meter run, finishing ninth in 36:01.30.
In the field events,
Kathryn Kelly scored fourth in the long jump with a distance of 18' 6 ½", while
Sophia Jagoe-Seidl finished seventh in the javelin throw with a mark of 122' 5".
Fordham will have more chances to score on Sunday, as four Rams qualified for Sunday finals. Kelly qualified third in the 200 meters dash (24.36) as well as fifth in the 100 meter dash (12.15), while teammate
Mary Kate Kenny qualified eighth in the 100 meter dash (12.28). The last qualifier was
Aidan Moroz in the 800 meters as she qualified fifth in 2:07.83.
Other top performers on Saturday were Kenny in the 200 meter dash (11
th – 25.00),
Sarinnagh Budris in the 400 meters (13
th – 57.19),
Dana Beggins in the 800 meters (14
th – 2:15.28),
Gabrielle Schreib in the 400 meter hurdles (12
th – 1:03.77), and
Sydney Snow in the steeplechase (14
th – 10:51.64).
The Championship concludes on Sunday.
