Fordham Student-Athletes Enjoy Delayed Graduation

14 student-athletes receive degrees after missing University ceremony due to competition

Bronx, N.Y. – For 14 Fordham University student-athletes graduation came two days late but for a good reason. All 14 were busy on Saturday representing the university at various athletic events.

The Fordham graduates were presented their degrees by the John Dzieglewicz, SJ, Associate Dean and Senior Class Dean for Fordham College at Rose Hill, and Mario DiFiore, Assistant Dean for Seniors for the Gabelli School of Business, in a special ceremony in Bepler Commons on Monday evening.

Receiving their degrees today from the softball squad were Deanna Burbridge, Kylie Michael, Molly Roark, Chelsea Skrepenak, Jordy Storm, and Maria Trivelpiece. All were competing at the Seattle Regional of the NCAA Softball Championship over the weekend. It was their fourth straight NCAA Regional appearance and the seventh straight overall for the Rams.  In addition, Skrepenak received her commission letter through Fordham Army ROTC.

Storm capped her career by earning First Team All-Atlantic 10 honor while Trivelpiece received Second Team All-A-10 honors.

Baseball student-athletes receiving degrees today were Justin Bardwell, Mike Cowell, Anthony DiMeglio, and Anthony Zimmerman. The baseball squad was in Dayton, Ohio, on Saturday, closing out the 2019 season by taking two of three games at the University of Dayton to solidify a fourth-place showing in the Atlantic 10. The Rams will host the 2019 A-10 Championship at Houlihan Park beginning on Wednesday with Fordham taking on fifth-seeded Richmond in the third game of the day at 5:00 p.m.

Members of the rowing squad who received their degrees today included Cynthia Luz, Erin Parker, Emma Spoldi, and Caroline Roncinske. The Rams competed at the Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J., where they finished in a tie for third. Parker and Roncinske competed with the Varsity 8 that placed third, the first medal for Fordham in the Varsity 8 since 2007. Parker (First Team) and Roncinske (Second Team) earned All-Atlantic 10 honors at the championship regatta.
