PENNSAUKEN, N.J. – The Fordham University Varsity 8 placed third to help the Rams tie for third in the team standings at the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championships on the Cooper River.
 
Following the regatta, three Rams earned All-Atlantic 10 honors with sophomore Aleksa Bjornson and senior Erin Parker being named to the first team and senior Caroline Roncinske to the second team.
 
Rhode Island won the team title with 54 points, followed by George Washington who scored 48 points. Fordham tied for third with Massachusetts at 35 points. Dayton and Saint Joseph's each scored 29 to tie for fifth, followed by Duquesne in seventh with 22 points. George Mason and La Salle rounded out the team scoring respectively.
 
The Varsity 8 led the way for Fordham with a third place finish, the first medal for Fordham in the V8 since 2007. The Rams took second in their heat in 7:19.882 and then edged Dayton at the line in the finals in 6:49.755, behind Rhode Island and George Washington but ahead of the Flyers, UMass and Saint Joseph's.

The Fordham Second Varsity 8 started with a second place showing in its heat in 7:41.165, behind Rhode Island but well in front of Saint Joseph's, La Salle and George Mason. The Rams then finished fifth in the finals.

In the Varsity 4 event the Fordham entry took second in its heat in 8:46.826, behind Rhode Island but ahead of Saint Joseph's and George Mason, and then placed sixth in the final.

The regatta also featured a non-scoring Third Varsity 8 race where the Rams placed fifth.

The Second Varsity 8, Varsity 4 and Third Varsity 8 were all rowing with new lineups and were the definition of strength for their hard fought finishes. Additionally, the Varsity 4 experienced equipment failure in the final and were forced to come to a dead stop in the race, making it even more impressive that the shell finished just ten seconds behind Saint Joseph's. 
 
The five Fordham seniors: Emma Spoldi, Danielle Kosman, Cynthia Luz, Erin Parker, and Caroline Roncinske all made the choice to race and support their team at Atlantic 10s in lieu of walking for graduation on Rose Hill with the Class of 2019.
